Things to do in Ibiza

Discover beaches

Cala Comte

This is perhaps my favourite beach in Ibiza. It is a busy beach, which is partly due to the popular Sunset Ashram Bar. But the crystal-clear water and breathtaking views make this little beach a wonderful place to swim, snorkel or chill with a book for a few hours. The sunset here is also truly one of the most beautiful on the island.

You can park your car there at the car park nearby, but be on time if you’re visiting around sunset. The car park fills up quickly. There is also a bus (L4) from San Antonio, it only runs during the season in early May to early October.

Cala d’Hort

This pretty little beach is another good place to watch the sunset. The view of nearby Es Védra is awesome. Watch your feet, there are quite a few stones in the water. Nearby are parking spaces along a dirt road.

Cala Bassa

This lovely beach that gradually deepens is great for an afternoon of swimming and doing nothing at all. It is a bit more crowded and not as idyllic as some other beaches, but it is very easy to get to without feeling like rock climbing and worth a visit.

Cala Xarraca

A nice little bay close to the hippy market Benirràs. It’s a great place for snorkelling too. The water is not very deep and there is a relaxed atmosphere. There is a car park, but parking your car along the road is fine too.

Platja des Jondal

This stone beach is truly beautiful and worth checking out. Do you have a bit more to spend? Consider having a drink or renting a beach bed at the Blue Marlin Eivissa. Walk through this beautiful restaurant to get to the small beach. Enjoy the boats, endless views and beautiful blue water.

Explore Ibiza Town

Ibiza Town is the island’s capital and is fun to explore for a day. There are many nice places to eat or have a drink. There are different neighbourhoods such as Vara de Rey, the old harbour, the ‘Sa Penya‘ district and the luxury marina ‘Marina Botafoch‘. The highlight, in my opinion, is D’Alt Villa district, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site for a reason. The beautiful ‘Catedral de Santa Maria de la Neu de Vila d’Eivissa‘ is also located in this area.

Stroll through the narrow colourful streets of Sa Penya, enjoy the beautiful historic walls and churches and treat yourself to a delicious ice cream at Vivi’s Eivissa Gelato. There are also several nice markets, and the area is filled with cute little shops. These are particularly in the Sa Penya district. If you are still looking for Insta-proof photo spots, Sa Penya and D’alt Villa are your places to be.

Visit Santa Gertrudis de Fruitera

This small but incredibly cute village boasts some very good restaurants and sweet shops. You will find the bakery Chez Bibi, an art gallery and lots of terraces. The shops sell many beautiful handmade products, a must if you want a slightly more original souvenir than you might find at the boulevard in San Antonio.

Enjoy the sunset

Sunset Ashram

One of the better places to watch the sunset is at the relaxed Sunset Ashram. This beautiful stone restaurant is located on Cala Comte. The restaurant is average in terms of price and has an amazing location, so it fills up really quickly. Should you not be able to get a seat, it is still worth watching the sunset from the beach here.

Cala Gracioneta

Cala Gracioneta is a beautiful and stylish restaurant tucked away in a small corner among the rocks by the water. It’s a lovely place where every detail is carefully considered, and even the waitresses have a goddess-like charm. It’s a bit pricey, but the experience is worth it, offering fantastic food and drinks. You can catch a breathtaking sunset from this spot.

If you’re on a tighter budget, the nearby rocks are also a great option for watching the sunset. Just make sure to leave early, as it can be a bit of a climb to get there.

San Antonio Caló des Moro

If you want to enjoy a beautiful sunset from the boardwalk, San Antonio is the place to be. Whether at the harbour or from the small Caló des Moro beach, you’ll catch a stunning sunset. Prefer sipping on a cocktail, enjoying Spanish wine, tapas, or affordable pizza? Then SunSeaBar is the perfect spot for you.

Mirador des Vedrà

In my opinion, the best place to watch the sunset has to be the Mirador des Vedrà. It’s a nice spot on a rock, offering a beautiful view. I recommend bringing some tasty drinks and/or snacks because it gets quite crowded. Make sure to arrive at least an hour early. It’s a bit of a walk from the car park, around 15–20 minutes, so factor that in. Parking is free, but it fills up quickly.

Feel the magic of Es Vedrà

Es Vedrà in Ibiza is an intriguing place, wrapped in mystery and spiritual energy. Despite being just an imposing rock, it’s renowned as the fourth most magnetic spot on Earth. It’s considered a power spot with exceptionally high energy. Next to Es Vedrà is Es Vedranell, its smaller companion.

Locals claim the island radiates a mystical atmosphere, and Ibiza residents prefer to sail around it rather than go directly to it. For those daring to brave the steep climb, the Atlantis cave with its wall paintings awaits. Es Vedrà remains a captivating destination for those seeking a touch of magic on this beautiful island.

Tip: I decided to buy a gemstone in San Antonio and charged it on the ground with the energy of Es Vedrà.

Benirràs

Experience the laid-back vibes at the Benirràs Hippy Market in Ibiza, where a laid-back atmosphere meets you under the radiant sun. In addition to the well-known Benirràs Hippy Market, you’ll find many more hippy markets on Ibiza, including Punta Arabí, held every Wednesday during high season from 10:00 to 19:00. Right between D’Alt Villa and Sa Penya, you’ll find the super cute Vivi’s. This is one of the best ice cream places in Ibiza, and honestly, the ice cream is incredible. It’s a bit pricey, but you get super-sized scoops of homemade ice cream. In my opinion, it’s pure enjoyment – after all, you’re on holiday.

For special cocktails, Boat House is the place to be. As the name suggests, the entire bar is decorated with nautical stuff. You might pay a bit more for a cocktail, but they are unique and very tasty. Plus, you get to enjoy them in a pretty place with excellent service.

My personal favourite in Ibiza. From delicious sandwiches to fresh juices, pastries, and juicy burgers, you’ll find it all here. Sit in a peaceful garden or in a place decorated in typical Ibiza style. Considering Ibiza standards, this place is not too expensive. Recommendation: try the lemon meringue tart – it’s a winner!

San Antonio

Cafeteria BahÍa €

The least touristy spot with the most delicious serrano ham and manchego bocadillo can be found right here, all for just under three euros. Their patatas bravas are also to die for. They serve delightful tapas, tortillas, and sandwiches. Just keep in mind, that they usually stay open until around 8 PM and don’t offer the same menu all day.

Carrer de París, 5, 07820 Sant Antoni de Portmany, Illes Balears, Spanje

Another nice spot with delicious fresh juices, salads, and sandwiches is Macadamia. It’s located just outside San Antonio, and it’s a peaceful place offering quality food at an affordable price.

Best time to travel Ibiza

One of the best ways to explore the island is by renting a car. Don’t be fooled; the distances are serious. The roads are narrow, your car will inevitably be covered in dust from all the unpaved roads, and most people drive a bit recklessly.

However, renting a car in Ibiza is truly worthwhile because it allows you to see the most of the island. Picture this: warm summer breeze through your hair, music playing loudly, all while enjoying breathtaking views of the sea and the beautiful countryside. Who wouldn’t want that? A scooter is also an option, but make sure you have experience riding one.

I rented my car through Europcar, but I’m usually a big fan of Sunnycars too. Renting a car in Ibiza is generally not too expensive, with a guideline of around 20 euros per day in the low season and 50 euros per day in the high season.

Sleep well — Great hotels on Ibiza

Invisa Hotel Club Cala Verde is a beautiful resort located on Cala Verde Bay. It offers comfortable rooms and great pools surrounded by plants. The food is tasty, and the facilities are excellent. Situated on a calm beach with shallow waters and minimal waves or currents, it’s perfect for a relaxed afternoon float. The view is truly stunning, highly recommended.

Hotel Tarba in San Antonio, Ibiza, offers a laid-back atmosphere with comfortable rooms featuring modern feel and a welcoming vibe. It is comfortable, clean, and staffed with very friendly personnel. The hotel’s location is ideal, right next to the bus station of San Antonio. With a refreshing pool and the connected Bloom Bar offering tasty and affordable food, it’s a great spot. You are close to the vibrant harbour with stunning sunsets. Please note that parking is available only a 10-minute walk away at Lidl (which can be convenient for grabbing some food).

Room rates start from 63 euros per night.
